Write for Poiema

Now Accepting Guest Posts

Poiema is a fresh new community with a growing readership of creative professionals interested in the intersect of faith, culture, and creativity.

In an effort to provide new writers an outlet for their creative content, and new opportunities to network with other creative professionals, Poiema is now accepting guest post submissions.

Guest posts should be 500-800 words of high quality, original content carefully edited for proper grammar and spelling. (Please do not submit previously published content, or re-hashed and regurgitated blog fodder.)

Topics and Subjects

Acceptable topics should focus on issues and ideas that intersect with faith*, culture, and/or creativity. Avoid submitting religious content that is unrealistically sanitized, overtly didactic, or sectarian in nature.

We are looking for content that enlightens and delights by faithfully and authentically exploring perennial human questions, truth, beauty, and goodness, the arts and humanities, and transcendent mystery.

Examples include, but are not limited to, articles on great literature, historical figures and events, the craft of writing, publishing, ethical marketing, book reviews, economics, politics, and biblical themes, etc.

*by faith we assume a ‘Mere Christianity’ worldview, i.e. Apostle’s Creed or Nicene Creed.

Post Image Requirements

If you have an image you’d like to use in your post, please submit a high quality image that is at least 300 dpi and approximate 900 X 300 pixels. All images must be properly attributed and credited.

Please don’t be offended if we suggest changes. If we do not use your image, it will be returned and we will not use it otherwise without your express written permission.

Compensation and Byline

While we are, at this time, unable to monetarily compensate for posts, we do allow a 75-100 word bio with links to your website and up to three social media outlets (i.e., Facebook, Google plus, Twitter, etc.).

Republishing Policies

Posts submitted to Poiema will become the property of Poiema. However, after six months, authors may request a free-use license on the digital property as long as it is accompanied with a hyperlinked byline reading “This article first appeared on poiemapress.com.”

Editorial Policies

Guest submissions are subject to light editing. If suggested changes are not agreeable to the author, the post will be returned without publication, and the author is free to publish it elsewhere.

Submission Process

Before writing a post, please familiarize yourself with our mission and focus. We are looking for contributors who understand–and to a large degree share–our worldview and vision.

Submit a query with your bio, any social media links you think would be helpful, and a short paragraph summarizing your post idea in the contact form below. If your idea is a suitable fit, we’ll email the simple instructions for sending us your guest post.
